COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Merrill Journalist Brett Hall ’15 has been selected by the SPJ national board to fill the remaining time left by the departure of one of their elected student representatives.
Hall will be participating in the meeting of the Board of Directors that takes place at the start of this year’s Excellence In Journalism Conference in Nashville September 4-6.
Watch Hall’s video promoting his candidacy for a full term on the SPJ National Board:
Brett is the immediate past president of the Merrill College SPJ student chapter – and was chosen from six candidates to fill the unexpired term for the student board member.
Hall is also a candidate for a full, one year term as one of two elected student representatives on the board.
SPJ student adviser Sue Kopen Katcef (CNS Broadcast Director) says “I believe Brett is the second UMD student to serve on SPJ’s national Board. The first was Homeyra Mokhtarzada who graduated in 2001. FYI…Homeyra is now a foreign service officer with the State Department.”
Brett is spending his summer as a part time reporter for WDEL Radio (Delmarva Broadcasting) in Wilmington, DE.
