After earning her bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Maryland, College Park, Ms. Hartz came to work for the University as an academic advisor. In 2004, she accepted the Director of Administrative Services position in the Department of Economics. She was subsiquently presented with the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences' Outstanding Staff Award. Prior to her transfer to the Philip Merrill School of Journalism, Ms. Hartz completed the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers' (SACUBO's) College Business Management Institute training program and the ORAA Certification Program, a comprehensive sponsored projects training program, designed and administered by the University's Offices of Contract and Grant Accounting and Research Administration and Advancement. Ms Hartz is an active member of the National Council of University Research Administrators and is dedicated to managing Merrill's funding ethically and efficiently to aid the College in its pursuit of excellence.
